Turgay Seckin Serpil, member of FIDE Commission for Chess for the Disabled, is also an experienced chess trainer for players with visual and hearing impairment. His years of experience in the field led to a project called "Chess without Disabilities" where he came up for the first time with a methodological manual for teaching chess to players with visual impairment.

Chess is a game for everyone, regardless of their physical conditions, gender, ethnicity or social status. With this egalitarian vision in mind FIDE supports the development of chess amongst players with disabilities and the 1st FIDE Confederation Cup for the Disabled People organized in Ankara with the financial support of Rosatom is a testament to it.
